Autumn is my favourite season. Often brilliant sunshine against cloudless blue skies and falling leaves in all their colourful glory. Dressing for the weather couldn't be better, be enveloped in sumptuous layers of silk, cashmere and wool and welcome the North wind!
Tailored wool coat with deep pockets and a swish hem
worn with scarf, merino wool / silk
and elbow length fingerless gloves, lambswool / angora.
A fabulous and unexpected treat. This was my first visit to the Andipa Gallery on Walton St, Knightsbridge. An intimate and friendly space, the gallery is home to a varied mix of artists from Picasso to Damien Hurst.
Wilton's Music Hall is the oldest surviving Grand Music Hall in the world, belonging to the first generation of public house music halls that appeared in London during the 1850s and which, only fifty years later, had all but disappeared. Originally 5 terraced houses, John Wilton opened his Music Hall in 1858.
These wonderful posters are on display in the gallery of
Wilton's Music Hall in commemoration to the men and women who volunteered to
defend democracy in Spain from 1936-1937.This exhibition is part of a
commemorative event to mark 75th anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street.
The UK’s leading minimalist,John Pawson, and Swarovski Crystal Palace have created a spectacular installation in the Geometric Staircase of St Paul’s Cathedral to reveal a new perspective of this architectural masterpiece and the genius of Sir Christopher Wren.
‘Perspectives’ is unveiled during the London Design Festival, 17th
to 25th September, and will remain open to the public until January 2012.
Reflecting Wren’s desire that his buildings should incorporate scientific elements, ‘Perspectives’ uses the largest Swarovski lens ever manufactured to create a dramatic optical experience which depends on scientific subtlety, material simplicity and a complex combination of light, space and proportion to reflect an environment rich in history and beauty.
Reflecting the V.A's grand entrance ‘Timber Wave’, a three-dimensional latticework spiral, made of American red oak is a unique installation by Amanda Levete Architects and Arup. This beautiful and ornate work takes the V.A. out onto the street in a dramatic celebration of the London Design Festival’s residency at the Museum.
